About this deal

I have always been a true animal lover, and that means all animals, not just the fluffy and/or cuddly ones like kittens and puppies. Immediate deforestation and nationwide urbanisation following colonisation completely eliminated many species from throughout much of the country and restricted them to small, degraded forest patches.

Unfortunately some of the entries were wrong (wrong photo/snake), and the descriptions were too short, leading to many being quite repetitive. Furthermore, 5 species of snakes were found, with only 1 species of snake naturally occur in Yogyakarta. Children aged 7+ can learn all about snakes from the very first page of this book, which combines little-known information with engaging text and an exciting design. The Book of Snakes profiles 600 significant species from all 32 families-one in six of all known species-to create a beautiful collector's piece that is both a significant resource for enthusiasts and scholars, and the most visually stimulating guide on the market. Unfortunately there’s only one photo per entry, and I wish more subtypes were included (the three major types of short-tailed python all look very different).

Mark O'Shea is a herpetologist, television broadcaster, zoologist, author, photographer, lecturer and public speaker, and was the Consultant Curator of Reptiles at West Midland Safari Park in the UK for 33 years. Two transects are located near the river (transect 1 and transect 2), the other two transects are far from the river and are located around the peat dome (transect 3 and transect 4). Packed with fascinating facts such as physical and behavioural characteristics, this guide also includes focused profiles of 60 snakes, from the Rainbow Boa to the Tropical Rattlesnake. He is a professor of herpetology at the University of Wolverhampton and he previously spent thirty-three years as curator of reptiles at West Midland Safari Park. Children will love to learn all the basics of reptile anatomy in this beautiful and informative book on our serpent friends.
