About this deal

Performance-wise, I ran this dongle for over four hours on a road trip and it didn’t lag out or slow down in any way. Once CarPlay has launched, everything runs as you would expect from this new wireless CarPlay dongle.

Carlinkit Mini2 supports OTA upgrades, allowing you to effortlessly update it by following just a few straightforward steps. I personally don’t find this to be a huge deal, but I think native CarPlay from Kia should probably disconnect instantly.Second, Google controls Android Auto and they are always making version changes that make keeping the wireless version one big headache, not to mention all the phone brands and android versions. Using Carlinkit Mini2, you can easily connect your cell phone to your CarPlay wirelessly, and you are also able to hit the road , listen to music, answer the phone, reply to messages, and adjust the volume by Siri or original car operation when driving. It also can't be connected to another Wi-Fi network, which is difficult if you've got a strong signal from the house that reaches your driveway. You elaborated some of the same issues I had with the dongle not gracefully working with the EV6 infotainment SW. But even after the updates, I still had to experiment with settings, finally turning off Carsifi’s “Intercept AA protocol,” before it would work in my 2018 Honda.

You can put your iPhone in your pocket and use carplay through a wireless connection, without the need for a cumbersome data cable connection. One tip to note is that it takes almost a minute for it to boot up from cold, so you can connect the phone only after that.Your car already has wired Apple CarPlay installed either from the factory or upgraded through your dealer, and you are using its functions. The boot animation tried to launch exactly once (pegging my speakers at full volume) and then it never worked again. Instead, I got annoyed that it (like the Cplay2Air) created Bluetooth and Wi-Fi network names like HondaXXXX. The Carlinkit takes over the CarPlay screen and displays its own interface, where you pair it to your iPhone via Bluetooth; like others, it creates a unique name to pair to along with the car's make. After that, Android Auto popped right up on the screen and worked fine after a few car restarts and re-plugging of the device into the smart port.
