About this deal

Popular BBC TV chef and presenter Chris Bavin is a resourceful home cook who prides himself on producing healthy food fast for his young family, sometimes tempting them with fakeaways , his good-for-you versions of takeaways. I’ve used leftover Bolognese, I’ve even done them with leftover Mexican Chilli Beef and it was out-of-this-world!

Divided into chapters on American, Chinese, Indian, Italian and Middle Eastern classics you'll find recipes which take just fifteen minutes to cook, slow-cooker recipes that do the hard work for you, and menus that will feed up to four people. Chris Bavin's Fakeaway promises some healthy fun for home cooks looking to lose weight or who are feeding family or friends with special dietary requirements. Chinese food is ideal for a veggie diet as it makes the most of fresh vegetables and meat substitutes, and uses very little dairy - but at the same time packs fantastic flavour into everything. The whole thing took 35-40 minutes (and I’m not an efficient cook), which is probably faster than a takeaway would take to arrive and without the additional nasties found in some. Spread the tomato sauce over the cooked sides of the pizzas, sprinkle over the grated mozzarella and then top with your veggies. It's one of life's little pleasures, and a great way to try food from around the world in the comfort of our own homes.

He's also the brother of TV celebrity Gok Wan and both boys grew up working in their family's Cantonese Restaurant in Leicester in the 1970s. Refreshingly practical, Fakeaway contains all the inspiration you need to make delicious meals for your family from scratch and on a budget. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. The cooking prep time of 10 minutes is a bit ambitious – my knife skills clearly aren’t up to Pinnock’s standard – and the ginger seemed a huge amount for two people (turned out I was wrong). Including tasty treats from around the globe, we’ve got your cravings covered with no deep-frying in sight. Individually dip the prawns first into the flour, then into the egg and then in the breadcrumbs to coat. Chris recommends using stale bread so it’s a great way of using up old bread and minimising food waste, plus it gave our prawn toasts a good crunch without having to fry them so it was much healthier!

Chris Bavin is the down-to-earth former greengrocer and much-loved British TV presenter on BBC’s Eat Well for Less and – alongside Mary Berry – Britain’s Best Home Cook, and author of Good Food, Sorted. In Fakeaways award-winning chef and qualified nutritionist Dale Pinnock shows you how to create healthy alternatives to your favourite takeaways at home. Whether you're simply trying to lose weight, or fancy cooking for the whole family, this healthy cookbook has something for everybody to love.Organised by type of takeaway, there are dishes to recreate from the chippy, pizzeria, diner and more. The main reason for my 3 stars is the fact that the digital version is simply a scanned version, no live links.
