About this deal

Using the generator to supply energy that weaken the heads, Spider-Man defeats Venom, allowing him to stop the invasion or take over Manhattan as the new symbiote leader. As the generator is powered up, Spider-Man finds a symbiote-filled fountain containing seven serpent heads with Venom's consciousness. The various other characters, both allies and enemies alike, are also well rendered and animated, leaving most boss battles looking fluid and fantastic, and regular battles fast-paced and brutal. When a deadly symbiotic invasion devastates the streets of New York City, only Spider-Man can seize control and bring salvation to the city!

You job stinks, you don’t feel like you’re doing good in the world, your life feels like an endless cycle of repetition and tedium intermixed with failure from one day to the next, but at the end of the day, you can see the smile on someone’s face who you’ve done right by and know you’ve done alright for yourself in some form or fashion. The Wii version doesn't look as good, but it's more stable which makes it a lot more playable over the longrun. IGN criticized the story, and also pointed out that the lock-on camera has a tendency to detach itself, making mid-air battles difficult. Web of Shadows has also dispensed with the “Spider-Sense” mechanic from Spider-Man 3 which forced you into battles of constant dodge-fighting that were boring and drawn out, and instead focuses on allowing you to block and dodge if you want to (with satisfying results), but not outright punishing you for NOT doing so if you’re not interested.

If they helped either Nightcrawler twice or both him and the Green Goblin once, Manhattan is saved and the citizens are freed from the symbiotes' control, praising Spider-Man, who thinks of taking a shower after having gone to the sewers twice in a day. The PS2, PSP, and DS versions of the game all control well for the kinds of game they are, but their simple nature can't quite compete with the dizzy thrills of the HD versions. All three versions have several common elements, such as moral choices that alter the narrative, the ability to summon allies during fights, and a similar plot, despite different characters being featured. Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is a fun, fast paced, enjoyable game that is unfortunately hurt by some odd technical issues, which keep it from achieving true greatness. Alliances with Marvel's greatest heroes and most notorious villains hold consequences, as heroic and vigilante paths hold different destinies.

If you lose your place in the story, chasing down various achievements can be just as entertaining for a few hours. This probably isn't anything you're average consumer would notice, but experienced gamers will appreciate the relative smoothness of the 360 version. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The story goes to great lengths to explain how the symbiote-repulsion technology will stop symbiotes to protect the people, yet Spider-Man can safely pass through it, despite having a symbiote attached to him. As you play the game, your moral actions dictate whether you’re red and blue (good) or black (evil) suit aligned, based on whether you save or harm civilians and what choices you make during cutscenes.
